Our Story

The journey of Walsh & Hay Accountants & Advisors began in 2014 when Tyson Hay and Matthew Walsh, two experienced accountants, decided to open their own practice in Colac and Apollo Bay. With a combined experience of 40 years in public accounting practice, they aimed to establish a new business in the local community and surrounding areas, providing an alternate choice for their accounting and taxation needs. With strong initial success, the team outgrew their first office and moved to their current location at 15 Connor Street in June 2016. Since then, they have welcomed additional staff, including Stacey McCarthy and Gabby Finn in accounting and Leah Sherman in administration. The team anticipates continued growth and expansion while maintaining a boutique style and friendly approach that their clients love.

Our Team

Tyson Hay is a certified practising accountant with over 20 years of experience in accounting and taxation services. He has extensive experience in a number of industries, including farming, hotels, building and construction, tourist parks, and medical professionals. Tyson is a family man and enjoys spending time with his wife and four children. He is also the Treasurer of the Colac Football Netball Club.

Matthew Walsh, also a certified practising accountant, has been providing accounting and advisory services to the people and businesses of Colac, Apollo Bay, and surrounding districts since 1996. He has experience in a range of industries, including all facets of farming, motels and tourism, hospitality, and retail trade. Away from work, Matthew enjoys beef cattle farming and thoroughbred breeding. He is also involved with the Colac Turf Club Inc. and Colac Little Athletics Inc.

Stacey McCarthy is a certified practising accountant with extensive experience in accounting and taxation services. She has worked in a variety of industries, including agriculture and farming, construction and trades, beauty and hairdressing, and continues to work in her specialist area of Self-Managed Superannuation Funds and audits of SMSF. Stacey is also a passionate sports enthusiast and coach, often found coaching netball teams at the Colac Football Netball Club.
