Our History
Oscars Hotel and Cafe Bar has a rich history that dates back to the gold rush days of Ballarat. Originally known as the Criterion Hotel, our hotel has been a staple of the community for over a century. In recent years, we've undergone an extensive refurbishment to create a modern, stylish, and comfortable retreat that pays homage to our rich history.

The atmosphere at Oscar's is great, with a warm and friendly vibe. The staff is fabulous, and waiters like Tanza go above and beyond to ensure a pleasant dining experience. The service is quick, efficient, and attentive, making the dining experience seamless from start to finish.
Food
The food at Oscar's is a highlight, with a variety of options to suit different tastes. The menu offers a range of dishes, including American classics, Mexican favorites, and vegetarian options. The quality of the food is top-notch, with fall-off-the-bone ribs, juicy fish tacos, and tender grilled shrimp. The portions are generous, and the prices are great for the amount of food you get.

The menu may lack a bit of variety, but the quality of the food and the variety of vegetarian options make up for it. Recommended dishes include the Bottomless Basket Chips & Salsa, Garlic Burger with a Side of Fries and a Pickle, and the Murder Burger.
Letdowns
Some reviewers mentioned that the slow-cooked pork in their burrito was dry, and the dressing on the house-side salad was a bit too tart. However, these were minor complaints, and overall, the reviews were extremely positive.
