Dead Ringer is a neighbourhood restaurant situated in the heart of Surry Hills, known for its great bar and casual dining experience. Our restaurant is nestled in a heritage townhouse just off Taylor Square, at the crossroads of Paddington, Darlinghurst, and Surry Hills. The interior boasts of a comfortable counter-top dining, a garden terrace, and an intimate dining room, which can be reserved for private events.
Dead Ringer is the brainchild of three friends who have spent most of their professional lives working in the hospitality industry around the world. Influenced by restaurant and bars in Melbourne and London, this is our second venture following the successful multi-award winning cocktail bar Bulletin Place, which opened in 2012. We take pride in our second venue, which has become one of Australia's most awarded bars, recognised globally for the quality of drinks, friendly team, and casual vibe.
Our passion for food and drinks is evident in every dish and cocktail we serve. At Dead Ringer, we aim to combine our love for food with world-class cocktails, a focus towards fortified wines and vermouths. Our noteworthy, ever-changing wine list exclusively features Australian bottles, focusing on many smaller producers. We write our menu and select different wines every day so that there is always something new for our guests to try.

The Kitchen
We are thrilled to have one of Australia's most experienced chefs, Jamie Irving (previously Berta, Est, Pearl) heading up our kitchen. Together our goal is to champion the exceptional ingredients of this great continent through a changeable menu of large & small sharing plates. Our kitchen stays open throughout the day and late into every evening, and has become a locals favourite restaurant in Surry Hills.

Environment & Sustainability
At Dead Ringer, we are committed to operating our business in an environmentally responsible manner. We believe that it is our responsibility to minimise our impact on the environment. Our produce is always domestic and as local as possible. Our poultry is free-range, organic, chemical, and hormone-free. Our beef is grass-fed and free-range. Our meat suppliers provide the highest level of RSPCA certification. Our eggs are free-range. Our seafood is line-caught, sustainably farmed, or from sustainable fisheries.
Large Tables & Set Menus
The largest standard table booking we can accommodate is for six people. However, we can cater for larger groups when dining from one of our set menu options, which represent great value and take the hassle out of ordering from a sharing menu in larger groups. We have set menus available for lunch and dinner.
Meat Free Mondays
Meat Free Monday is every week at Dead Ringer so come and see what our talented kitchen team can do with the best of the season's produce. We believe that from an environmental, sustainability and health perspective, we could all do with eating a little less meat. Available every Monday, our Meat-Free Monday menu features a selection of vegetarian and vegan dishes, made with the best local produce.
Weekend Brunch
Start your weekend properly with a boozy brunch on our garden terrace! We serve a delicious brunch menu of seafood, omelettes, salads, and tarts accompanied by Bloody Mary's, bottomless mimosas, and coffee cocktails. Reservations are advised.
