Life After Trauma Specialist Psychological Therapy, headed by Clinical Psychologist Michael Guy, is a Hobart-based practice dedicated to providing specialised psychological therapy for trauma. Our mission is to help individuals regain control of their lives and overcome the challenges brought about by traumatic experiences.

We specialise in treating Post-Traumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD) and other psychological effects of trauma. Our therapeutic approach aims to reduce the effects of trauma, leading to a better quality of life by minimising or eliminating its impacts. We understand that putting trauma behind oneself can be a difficult process, and we are here to help make it more manageable.

Our practice caters to individuals who:

  • Experience trauma repeating in their mind
  • Live in fear of the trauma happening again
  • Experience anxiety, depression, and/or anger due to trauma
  • Have disturbed sleep, often accompanied by nightmares
  • Avoid activities they used to enjoy or want to do
  • Turn to excessive alcohol consumption and/or drug use to cope with trauma effects

At Life After Trauma Specialist Psychological Therapy, we focus on providing evidence-based psychological interventions tailored to each individual's needs. Our therapeutic process involves:

1. Developing a strong therapeutic relationship with our clients, ensuring a safe, supportive, and non-judgmental space for healing.

2. Utilising a range of therapeutic techniques, including Eye Movement Desensitisation and Reprocessing (EMDR), Cognitive Behaviour Therapy (CBT), Dialectal Behaviour Therapy (DBT), Gestalt, and hypnotherapy.

3. Integrating Schema Therapy principles, enabling us to draw from various psychotherapy schools to provide personalised strategies for change and growth.
